In their dance workshops, The Era impart the basics of Chicago footwork to people of all abilities, backgrounds and ages. In addition to teaching footwork dance moves, The Era immerse workshop participants in the culture and history of Chicago footwork, teaching people about this electronic music and dance that has thrived in Chicago for the last thirty years. Chicago footwork started to the sounds of Chicago house music in the 1980s. It is now practiced globally, with prominent footwork scenes in Japan, Los Angeles, Poland and Mexico.
